About Us

The Australia Vietnam Young Leadership Dialogue (AVYLD) is an independent non-profit initiative that was established to nurture relationships, promote engagement and incubate collaboration between Australian and Vietnamese young leaders from a broad spectrum of society. Through people to people links, we believe the bilateral relationship between Australia and Vietnam can be strengthened to contribute to the development of each respective nation.

Cat Thao Nguyen

Chairperson
Thao is Chair and co-founder of the Australia Vietnam Young Leadership Dialogue. She is Regional Director of UTS:INSEARCH covering Vietnam, Myanmar and Cambodia. She is currently the Board Chair of Loreto Vietnam Australia Program, an education charity. Her memoir, We Are Here was published by Allen & Unwin and shortlisted for 2016 NSW Premier's Literary Awards. Thao has been living in Vietnam since 2007.

Khai is currently the Head of Innovation and Growth for a Management Consultancy company in Australia. Inspired by the impact of community organisations at a young age, Khai worked in the not-for-profit sector for 12 years in management and fundraising roles. Khai has been recognised by youth organisations and Bankstown City Council for his community contributions. Rachel Bui

Rachel Bui

2016-2017 CEO
Rachel is an entrepreneur, economist and filmmaker. She is the founder of Aires Lab, an artificial intelligence research lab with an exploratory bent. Rachel worked at muru-D, the startup accelerator backed by Telstra and as a social policy economist at the Victorian Department of Treasury and Finance. She holds a B.Com (Hons) from Monash University.
