Joanna Wood is the Australian Government Education Counsellor for Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia and Laos. Joanna is based at the Australian Embassy in Hanoi, Vietnam. Joanna was the former Director, International Education South Asia in the Australian Government, Department of Education and Training in Canberra, Australia. The team was responsible for the bilateral skills relationship with South Asia including key countries such as India and Sri Lanka.
Joanna has worked for over 15 years in the Australian Government in the areas of climate change and employment policy programs and International Education. Joanna has over 15 years private sector experience in business development and stockbroking. Joanna has worked at the Australian High Commission in India, supporting high level Ministerial meetings, establishment of the Australia India Education Council (AIEC) and represented the Department on the Australia India Education Council Skills Working Group for six years.
Joanna has over eight years’ experience in the area of International education and skills including providing high level policy advice to international governments and multilateral organisations.
Joanna led the development of the Australian Government’s International Skills Training courses initiative, including the International Training and Assessment courses for vocational trainers and assessors. Joanna has lived and worked in India, UK, the Middle East and grew up in New Zealand and Australia.
Joanna holds a Master of Public Policy, specialising in International Policy from the Crawford School of Public Policy, Australian National University (ANU) and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment from Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT).
