ABOUT THE POSITION

Media and Communication Coordinator (x2)


We are looking for self-starting and creative communication and design interns to help produce, manage and grow our social channels and online presence.


Key tasks:


  • Source, create and schedule content for social media (Facebook, Instagram, Youtube..etc)

  • Work with leaders on specific social media campaigns

  • Have a good eye for design and working within our style guide

  • Proactively stay on top of current affairs and news in the SDGs space and find innovative ways to tell stories from the field

  • Help build the community and engage people (especially youth) on these issues


We are looking for someone with:


  • A passion for writing/design, social media, storytelling and/or content creation.

  • Self-starter who needs minimal supervision to complete the assigned task.

  • Ability to take initiative, manage priorities and ask for help when needed.

  • Interest in UN Sustainable Development Goals and all things social good.


Preferred but not essential:


  • Experience with Adobe Illustrator

  • Experience with Photoshop

  • Ideally have the ability to create video content or a willingness to learn


On completion of the role, you will have gained broad experience in various aspects of social media management, content creation and project management.

A certificate of completion for the role and professional reference will also be provided.

COMMITMENT

On going until 30th December 2021, minimum 6-month commitment.


You will be supplied with all necessary tools to complete all tasks given to you during the course of your role. In the early stages (through to approximately March 2021), it is anticipated that there may be up to 10 hours per week to prepare for launch. From that point, this commitment would likely taper off to approximately 4-6hours/week. Hours are dependent on how you work and coordinate your time, and can be flexible to work around other commitments.

ABOUT THE ORGANISATION

Emerge is a not-for-profit initiative created by The Australia-Vietnam Young Leadership Dialogue (AVYLD) and for young Vietnamese, Vietnamese-Australians, Asian-Australians and more broadly, anyone who is identified as youth (from 18 years old to 24 years old) with a keen interest in the bilateral relationship between Australia and Vietnam. We empower youth through events and initiatives that help our target audience better understand the UN Sustainable Development Goals (S.D.G), with a particular focus on gender equality. 


We are run by a passionate team of volunteers including university students, young professionals and creatives. There are 4 pillars to our mission: 

  1. Sharing stories, experiences, and insights that help Vietnamese youth understand and navigate some of the critical sustainable issues that they face.

  2. Fostering a strong sense of community amongst young Vietnamese, Vietnamese-Australians, Asian-Australians and more broadly, anyone who is identified as youth (from 18 years old to 24 years old) with a keen interest in the bilateral relationship between Australia and Vietnam. 

  3. Connecting young Vietnamese to leaders, role models, and mentors.

  4. Embracing diversity and celebrating the achievements of youth in the social impact space.
