Our vision is to facilitate deeper understanding and collaboration between Australian and Vietnamese young leaders to enhance the economic, social and cultural prosperity of Australia and Vietnam.
The Australia Vietnam Young Leadership Dialogue (AVYLD) is an independent non-profit initiative that was established to nurture relationships, promote engagement and incubate collaboration between Australian and Vietnamese young leaders from a broad spectrum of society. Through people to people links, we believe the bilateral relationship between Australia and Vietnam can be strengthened to contribute to the development of each respective nation.
OUR 2017 DELEGATES
An annual dialogue will be held every year in Australia or Vietnam. The first dialogue will be held in Sydney in May 2017, involving 20 delegates from Australia and Vietnam along with various speakers and partners from diverse sectors including business, education, policy, non-for-profit and the arts. In between dialogues, various events and workshops will be held concurrently in Vietnam and Australia, with delegates working with peers and mentors around specific challenges and opportunities.
To facilitate a better understanding of Vietnamese and Australian society and foster long-term, mutually beneficial relationships by connecting and engaging Australian and Vietnamese citizens from different industries and sectors to collaborate together.
To develop global leaders from Australia and Vietnam to shape regional and industry agendas by working closely with other stakeholders to define social and business challenges, solutions and actions in the spirit of global citizenship.
To create and nurture a sustained community through an integrated concept consisting of dialogues, a strong fellowship network, working groups led by AVYLD ambassadors, engaging events, and digital collaboration.
To facilitate research and promote policies that will support Australia and Vietnam to improve societal outcomes.
“The AVYLD is an important dialogue to begin bridging the gap between young Vietnamese leaders in Vietnam and Australia. We are only 40 years after the war and no doubt, whilst old wounds still linger, generational reconciliation is vital so that our young leaders abroad are encouraged to return to discover their roots, their history, and to learn how they can contribute to building a modern Vietnam that fiercely protects its traditions.
I believe in the incredible potential of this country, and I hope platforms such as AVYLD can be well-established to connect like-minded and like-hearted individuals who are determined to affect positive change through their passion.”
“The world is changing rapidly – but if there’s one thing I’ve learnt in almost thirty years in a business which interacts with a huge variety of cultures, it’s that you can’t beat a good conversation. I can’t think of an opportunity that hasn’t come about looking at things from a new perspective and strong relationships. Intrepid’s been taking Australian travellers to Vietnam for over twenty years and it’s the strong ties between the two countries that helped to fuel our rapid growth to become the world’s largest provider of adventure travel experiences. That makes us incredibly proud to support the work AVYLD is doing to develop a new generation of relationships that create shared value.”
