Stephanie Copus Campbell

Stephanie has championed gender equality and social inclusion over her 30-year career, spanning community, academia, NGO, private, philanthropic and government sectors. As the Australian Ambassador for Gender Equality, she is the lead advocate for Australia’s work on gender equality across all aspects of foreign policy.

Stephanie is currently a Director on the Femili PNG Board and the PNG City Pharmacy Ltd. Board. From 2018 to 2023 she was Chair of the PNG Southern Highlands Provincial Health Authority Board. She has also held director positions for UNICEF Australia, the Harold Mitchell Foundation, and Oil Search Foundation (OSF) boards.
Stephanie is a founding Director of Femili PNG and continues to actively support its new social impact coffee business, which supports female coffee growers as well as provide assistance to survivors of family and sexual violence in PNG.

From 2014 to 2022, Stephanie was Executive Director of OSF where she led the establishment of a USD $100 million organisation to ensure resource companies give back to the community in a way that makes a sustainable, positive difference. From 2009-2011, she was the head of the Australia Government’s aid program with PNG. She has also served as head of Australia’s bilateral aid programs Suva, Fiji, and head of Fiji and Tuvalu and Pacific regional programs. During her early career with the Australian Government, she worked on development cooperation with China and on environment and infrastructure policy. She has also worked with CARE Australia in an executive leadership role and as a lecturer with Deakin University in international relations.

Stephanie holds a Master of Philosophy from Cambridge University (UK) and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of California in political science, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. She is currently undertaking a Masters of Social Work through the University of Melbourne. In 2022, Stephanie qualified as a nationally accredited mediator and is available to undertake pro bono mediation. She volunteers in palliative care at Clare Holland House Hospice and

Stephanie is passionate about protecting Australia’s unique wildlife. She is a wildlife carer and rescuer for ACT Wildlife.and advocates for biodiversity protection.

In 2021 Stephanie was made a Member of the Order of Australia.
