William Taing
The 2024 Tyler Prize winner, Johan Rockstrom, quoted: “The only way to solve the climate crisis is to phase out fossil fuels and transition the global food systems…simultaneously.” Our food system needs change to support a future with 10 billion mouths to feed nutritiously and on a healthy planet.
William is an agricultural systems, open innovation, strategy and policy practitioner. His quest is to unleash the potential for agriculture to be a leading force for good in the world.
William is Co-founder and Director of Beanstalk whose mission is to influence and build resilient, ethical, and responsible food production systems that feed our people nutritiously and regenerate our planet.
William's work is focused on bridging the worlds of emerging technologies and the agricultural value chain in order to fast track and systemically advance towards this mission. William’s work has extended across Australia, South East Asia, and South Asia and the Pacific region. Prior to Beanstalk, William worked extensively across senior Government policy roles focused on agriculture development, resource management, climate policy, and Asia relations.
In 2024, Will was selected by the Prime Minister’s office to participate in the ASEAN-Australia Special Summit together with 40 other select Emerging Leaders from across ASEAN. In 2023, Will was winner of the Asia Society Game Changer Awards - Business Category. In 2019, Will was selected as "40 under 40: Most Influential Asian-Australian" by the Australian National University, Asialink and PwC. He recently served on the Steering Committee of the Australia-India Youth Dialogue over the last 2 years.
