Following the search and announcement of delegates in June, the 2021 Dialogue will be held as an exciting residential five-day hybrid program across Ho Chi Minh City and Sydney from 5 – 9 September 2021.

The theme of the 2021 Dialogue is “Regeneration”. It will bring together 20 young, dynamic and talented delegates, representing leaders from business, policy, education, health, arts and culture, innovation, and not-for-profit sectors. The next generation of leaders from both nations will embark upon a transformative journey towards stronger innovation partnerships and collaboration across mutually beneficial priority areas.

His Excellency Mr Nguyen Tat Thanh, Vietnamese Ambassador to Australia, said: “Vietnam welcomes on-going engagement with this expanding network of highly influential change-makers who will further strengthen the bilateral relationship through collaboration in strategic priority areas”.

“We are incredibly appreciative of the support from our partners, alumni and community since 2017. It is this community which allows us to carry the momentum into our third dialogue in 2021, and continue to strengthen AVLD as the only dedicated and pre-eminent non-Government organisation focused on the bilateral relationship between Australia and Vietnam”, said Ms. Thao Nguyen, Co-founder and Board Chair of AVLD.

“I believe the 2021 Dialogue will take our organisations to new heights as delegates engage in our topic of regeneration, informed by the massive shifts in society during the COVID-19 pandemic”.

AVLD Patron, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK CVO MC, said that “Australia and Vietnam have made incredible strides in their bilateral relations through ongoing diplomatic ties, economic engagement and trade relationships. The future of the Australia-Vietnam relationship is built on positive and future-focused collaborations, such as those driven by AVLD.”

Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional NSW, Industry and Trade – Mr John Barilaro, said Vietnam was NSW's 9th largest trading partner.

"The state's export strengths in the food and beverage, agriculture, water, and education and training sectors, coupled with strong technology and innovation ecosystem, position NSW as an ideal partner to help Vietnam meet emerging economic, demographic and social challenges," Mr Barilaro said.

"As an emerging market with an increasingly globally and regionally integrated economy and a growing middle-class there is a need to increase awareness in NSW of the Vietnamese market and raise the profile of NSW in Vietnam”

“The NSW Government is also proactively collaborating with our ASEAN counterparts to create stronger, more innovative, and strategic Sister-State arrangements across the region."

AVLD is an independent not-for-profit organisation that was established to nurture relationships, promote engagement and incubate collaboration between Australian and Vietnamese young leaders from a broad spectrum of society.
